L'Ecole Mennaisienne

Today the term Ecole Mennaisienne has come to be associated more with the schools founded by Jean-Marie de Lamennais, older brother of Félicité.

Originally, however, the term referred to the "school" of followers of Félicité, many of whom refused to follow Féli in his path from the Church.

Here is a list of some significant earlier followers of Félicité de Lamennais.

Charles Forbes René de Montalembert, historian and lay Catholic activist

Olympe-Philippe Gerbet, later bishop of Perpignan

Maurice de Guérin, poet and early follower of Lamennais

Jean-Baptiste Henri Lacordaire, re-established the Dominican Order in France in 1837

Frédéric Ozanam, historian and founder of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Ozanam met Lamennais before his split with the Church but was closer to Gerbet.

Antoine de Salinis, later bishop of Amiens
